Sold 'I Scott Romanced' Colt by SDP SCOTT DAVID
AQHA Weanling Colt Sold for $15,000
Bloodlines include SDP Scott David, Conman & Acres Destiny
Some pedigrees do a lot of the talking before a horse has even left the paddock. I Scott Romanced is one of them — and the market agreed, selling as a weanling for $15,000 at Manebid’s Winter Select Sale 2026. Sired by SDP Scott David and out of Destinys Romantic Con, this colt is stacked top and bottom with some of the most influential performance horse genetics Australia has produced.
The Sire: SDP Scott David
“Scotty” is a black stallion by Hydrive Cat, standing 15hh, and his own story is as good as his pedigree. After a serious tendon sheath injury threatened to end his career before it really started, he came back from surgery and months of rehabilitation to win the 2024 Warwick Gold Cup — one of the most coveted campdrafts in the country — before backing it up with a win in the 2025 Warwick Stallion Draft. He’s a stallion who’s proven he can perform under pressure, and he’s putting his stamp on his progeny.
The Dam Line: Destinys Romantic Con
Top side — Hazelwood Conman. Destinys Romantic Con is by Hazelwood Conman, a legend of the Australian campdraft and breeding world. Campaigned by renowned horseman Terry Hall, Conman won back-to-back Stallion Shootouts in 2012 and 2013. As a sire, he’s been a genuine game-changer — his progeny have consistently topped leaderboards at the Nutrien Classic and Nutrien Masters, with individual sale results reaching as high as $180,000. He’s sired well over a thousand registered foals and remains one of the most sought-after bloodlines in the country.
Bottom side — Romantic Destiny, by Acres Destiny out of Hazelwood Romantic Oak. Romantic Destiny brings together two more cornerstone sires:
•Acres Destiny — widely regarded as one of the most influential cutting, campdraft and challenge sires Australia has ever seen. He won the Australian Campdraft Association’s Sires Progeny Award an extraordinary eight years running (2008–2015) and ranks among the all-time leading cutting sires in the country. His progeny have repeatedly topped sale results and competition leaderboards nationwide.
•Hazelwood Romantic Oak, by Docs Freckles Oak — one of the original imported American Quarter Horse stallions credited with reshaping the Australian cutting and campdraft industries. His influence runs deep through generations of campdraft and cutting bloodlines still winning today.
What It Means for the Buyer
I Scott Romanced brings together a current Warwick Gold Cup-winning sire with a dam line built on two of the most dominant cutting and campdraft sires this country has bred — Hazelwood Conman and Acres Destiny, with imported foundation blood from Docs Freckles Oak underneath. It’s the kind of cross breeders plan for years to produce. He’s AQHA registered, with eligibility for dual Australian Stock Horse registration. This keeps his options open across both the performance and stock horse worlds.
